Remaining Time Function
The remaining time is the time displayed on vehicles with low annual mileage when the warning threshold has been reached. It depends on the initial time.
Initial time
Initial time is defined as the service interval in days immediately after the oil change.
The initial time is not dependent on the driving conditions and possible topping up of the engine oil.
The initial time is 730 days ((J) 365 days).
After every oil change the oil change reset facility resets the initial time automatically to its starting value. The initial time is an internal calculating factor and cannot be displayed in the instrument cluster (A1). A display of the initial time is only possible with the Star diagnosis tool.
Remaining time
The remaining time is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1) under the following conditions.
The remaining time is the time left until the next service.
The remaining time is only important for vehicles with low annual mileage. (The remaining mileage is therefore shown as standard.)
The remaining mileage depends on:
- the initial time
- the driving conditions
NOTE: Topping up of the oil has, however, no influence on the remaining time.
With regard to these conditions, ASSYST satisfies the requirements even on vehicles with low annual mileage. Depending on the evaluation, the service interval on these vehicles is between one and two years.
Warning threshold (in days)
Using the Star diagnosis tool, a warning threshold of between five and 30 days and with a tolerance of one day can be set for the remaining time. The basic setting is 30 days.
Display of the remaining time
The remaining time is only shown when the condition:
Remaining time (in days) x 40 < remaining mileage (remaining mileage in kilometers) or
remaining time (in days) x 20 < remaining mileage (remaining mileage in miles) has been satisfied and the warning threshold has been reached.
The display of the remaining time then follows:
- automatically after reaching the warning threshold, 5 sec. after the starter switch has been turned to position "2" or the engine has been started
The service symbol and message "SCOPE OF SERVICE AID IN (xxxx) DAYS".
- automatically, when the remaining time has expired after 5 sec. starter switch in position "2" or actual driving:
The service symbol and the message "CARRY OUT SCOPE OF SERVICE AID IN XXX KM" appears for 30 sec.
- automatically, at the end of the remaining time, 5 sec. after the starter switch has been turned to position "2" or the engine has been started:
The service symbol and message "SCOPE OF SERVICE A/B EXCEEDED BY xxxx DAYS" will appear for 30 sec.
In addition, a short acoustic sound is also generated.
- On driver's demand The message is then displayed for 30 sec. as above.
The message is displayed with a tolerance of one day. This can be faded out by operating the reset button on the instrument cluster (A1).
If the ASSYST misses some measuring values, e.g. due to failure of the sensor, it changes over to stored replacement values. A corresponding entry is made in the fault memory of the respective control module.
This date is saved in the event of a power failure. The times without power (e.g. g. disconnected battery) are not stored, can however be considered with the Star diagnosis tool!
