Differential Gears and Ring Gear Carrier

ASSEMBLY





1. Insert assembly mandrels (046) in bores of the differential housing.
2. Mount both differential side gears (17) with thrust washers (18) on the assembly mandrels in the differential housing.





3. Install both differential bevel gears (15) with spherical washers (14) together and precisely aligned in the differential housing, then using the mandrels, rotate the bevel gears into position





4. Push the assembly mandrel 126 589 02 15 00 (021), or equivalent into differential housing) for fixing the differential bevel gears (15) and spherical washers into the differential housing instead of the differential pin.





5. Using a suitable torque wrench, check friction torque of differential as shown in the illustration
- Specification: 5-30 Nm
- If not to specification, thrust washers of a different thickness must be installed
6. Drive in differential pin (16) and a new roll pin
7. Un-clamp differential housing (13)
