Complete Rear Suspension






NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

WARNING
^ Danger due to oil spraying out
^ Risk of poisoning from accidental drinking of brake fluid.
^ Risk of injury from accidental contact of brake fluid with the skin and even
^ Fill and store brake fluid in original containers only.
^ Wear protective clothing and goggles


NOTE: Refrer to the illustration above and the information below when removing the rear axle/suspension assembly.

REMOVAL
- Refer to removal and installation of rear springs. Service and Repair
- Models without level control, refer to removal and installation of rear shock absorbers.Service and Repair
- Models with level control, refer to removal and installation of rear spring struts. Procedures
- Remove torsion bar connecting rod (6k)
- Remove of exhaust system after flange connection, refer to Ehhaust System.
- Remove propeller shaft (106) and intermediate bearing (106a), refer to Transmission and Drivetrain
- Removal and installation of parking brake automatic cable length compensator (110b), refer to Brakes and Traction Control.
- Disconnect brake hose (111e) at frame floor, seal off openings
- Remove the fuel pump assembly cover (140).
- Disconnect the plug connection (x62/1) for speed sensor under rear seat, left side.
- Disconnect plug connection for speed sensor/bake pad wear indicator lamp under rear seat, right side.

INSTALLATION
- Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:
Replace self-locking hexagon bolts and nuts
Bleed brake system
Check vehicle level at rear axle
Check and correct headlamp adjustment
Recut thread on frame floor with thread canter for atrtachment bolts (1c and 1d)
- Tighten the following to:
Rear axle torsion bar connecting rod to spring link: 20 Nm
Self-locking hexagon bolt of front rubber mount, rear axle carrier to frame floor: 90 Nm
Self-iocking hexagon bolt of rear rubber mount, rear axle: 90 Nm
Self-locking hexagon nut, flexible disk to rear propeller shaft or rear axle center assembly
10 mm: 40 Nm
12 mm: 60 Nm
Propeller shaft intermediate bearing to frame floor: 30 Nm
