Procedure Notes
1. Prior to performing this Service Campaign, please check VMI in order to determine whether the left side, right side or both side airbag control module (s) need to be replaced.^ Vehicles requiring the left side airbag control module replaced are listed under campaign number: 2001040001
^ Vehicles requiring the right side airbag control module replaced are listed under campaign number: 2001040002
^ Vehicles requiring both side airbag control modules replaced are listed under both campaign numbers.
2. All airbags and ETRs returned for warranty consideration must be shipped in the original container, observing all applicable safety regulations concerning the shipping of warranty components classified as hazardous material. Do not deploy the airbags or ETR prior to shipping. Package recalled airbag modules in the same fiberboard packaging as you received the replacement airbag modules. Ship airbag modules by GROUND transportation only, to MBUSA Warranty Inspection.
The shipping of airbag modules, a hazardous material, must be done in accordance with the rules and regulations in Title 49 CFR (the U.S. Department of Transportation's hazardous Materials Shipping Regulations).
Use the accompanying "Hazardous Materials Shipping Guidance" document to assist you on how to properly mark, label, package and document this hazardous material for transportation.

3. Prior to performing this Service Campaign for both or either Model 170 and Model 210, carefully review and adhere to the safety instructions as indicated in the following documents: See WIS: AS91.00-Z-0001-01A, AH91.00-P-0002-01B, AH91.00-P-0004-01A and AH91.00-P-0006-01A. Additionally, review this Service Campaign Bulletin entirely prior to performing the recall itself.
