Removing and Installing Upper Transverse Control Arm

Shown On Model 220 Without 4matic:






DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

CAUTION: Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.


1 Remove front road wheel
2 Unplug connector at level sensor
3 Detach link rod (arrow) from level sensor at upper transverse control arm (6)
4 Press follower joint (8) out of steering knuckle (5)
5 Secure the steering knuckle (5) from tipping with wire
- Model 220 without 4MATIC

CAUTION: Do not subject the brake hose and electric cables to tensile loads.

6 Detach coolant expansion tank and place to the side
- When removing the right upper transverse control arm

NOTE: Do not detach coolant hoses.

7 Detach upper transverse control arm (6) from frame

CAUTION: Installation: Do not tighten nuts under vehicle is ready to roll.

NOTE: Counterhold nut using a suitable box wrench.

8 Check follower joint
9 Install in the reverse order.
