Inspecting AIRmatic For Leaks

NOTE: See notes on AIRmatic.
1 Remove engine compartment lining.
NOTE: Only on the right-hand side of the vehicle for testing the AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1).
2 Remove part of the wheel house inner panel in front fender
NOTE: Only on the right-hand side of the vehicle for testing the level control valve unit (Y36/6)
3 Spray the pressure line connections (1VL, 2VR, 3HL, 4HR, 5SP, P) of the level control valve unit (Y36/6), the pressure line connection of the AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1) and the pressure line connection (42a) of the central reservoir (42) with leak detecting spray.
NOTE:
- Wait for approx. 10-15 minutes after spraying. This means that minor leaks can be recognized (forming a white cap). Severe leaks are evident immediately.
- Use leak detecting spray.
4 Spray the area of the casting compound and pressure line connections (40a, 41a) on the spring struts (40, 41) with leak detecting spray
NOTE:
- Wait for approx. 10-15 minutes after spraying This means that minor leaks can be recognized (forming a foam crown). Severe leaks are evident immediately.
- Use leak detecting spray.
