Function of Emergency Running Mode

FUNCTION
- To ensure a safe driving condition and prevent damage to the automatic transmission, the transmission control module (N15/3) switches to emergency running mode in critical situations. For this a fault code assigned to the fault is stored. All solenoid and regulating valves are therefore in a de-energized state.

EFFECT
^ The gear last shifted remains engaged.
^ The modulator pressure and shift pressure increase to the maximum value.
^ The torque converter lock-up clutch is disengaged.

^ So that the vehicle largely remains operational, 2nd gear or a reverse gear can be engaged via the hydraulic control:
^ Stop the vehicle.
^ Switch off engine
^ Shift selector lever to position P
^ Wait for at least for 10 seconds
^ Start engine
^ Shift selector lever into D: goes to 2nd gear
^ Shift selector lever into R: goes to reverse

- The emergency running mode function is retained until the fault is eliminated or the stored fault code is erased. Intermittent faults can be reset via the ignition ON/OFF
