Location
The parking lock gear (4) is located 6n the output shaft in the rear section of the transmission housing.
Task
In addition to the parking brake1 to secure the vehicle mechanically to prevent it from rolling away.
Design
The parking brake mechanism consists of the parking lock gear (4), the parking lock pawl (43), taper (42) with spring (41) and guide bushing (40).
Function
In selection lever position < P > the taper (42) slides between the parking lock pawl (43) and guide bushing (40). This presses the parking lock pawl (43) against the parking lock gear (4). When the vehicle is stationary, if the tooth of the parking lock pawl (43) does not engage in a gap in the teeth, but engages on a tooth of the parking lock gear (4), the taper (42) is preloaded by the spring (41) and is in a position ready for operation. If the parking lock gear (4) turns further, the parking lock pawl (43) engages in the next gap in the teeth.
To prevent damage due to misuse, the widths of the gaps in the teeth are designed so that the parking lock pawl (43) only engages when the vehicle is stationary or creeping slowly. If the vehicle moves faster, the parking lock pawl (43) is deflected by the tooth bevels.
