C. Installation of Telephone Linear Compensator Portable Support Electronics Module (PSE)





1. Locate the 25-pole and 15-pole D-subconnectors taped to the amplifier harness and connect the 25-pole Y-cable connector labeled PSE to the PSE module (Figure 7).





2. Mount the PSE module to the back of the audio amplifier bracket with the U-shaped PSE bracket and two (2) M5 flange nuts. Note the PSE module position in relation to the D2B 25-pole D-sub-connector locations (D2B down and 25-pole toward the front of the vehicle) and cable/optics routing (Figure 8).

3. Connect the 25-pole male connector from the V-cable to the vehicle side harness.

4. Tie the two harness pieces together and told the assembly against the side of the amplifier (Figure 8).

5. Connect the D2B connector, assembled in step A10 labeled TEL, to the PSE module (A59/1) making sure all fibers remain free (not tied) and maintain a bend radius no smaller than 25 mm.

6. Carefully lower the completed bracket assembly back into the well making sure not to damage the fiber optics.





7. The voice activation module 15-pole D-sub- and optical connector should be located in the left rear corner after lowering the bracket assembly (Figure 9).





8. Mount the linear compensator to the bracket with three (3) M4xlO bolts and three (3) M4 nuts and ensure that connector placement allows for proper alignment during final assembly (Figure 10).

9. Connect the green 14-pole Y-cable connector to the linear compensator.





10. Mount the antenna switch to the bracket with two (2) M4 self-tapping TORX screws (Figure 11).

11. Locate the foam wrapped RF coaxial cable coming from the center console and antenna switch 4-pole connector along the harness leading into the wheel well.

12. Locate the foam sleeve covered RF junction between the bumper antenna and Tele Aid control module at the upper rear quarter panel.

13. Disconnect the bumper antenna and Tele Aid junction connector.

Note:
DO NOT remove the foam sleeve necessary for preventing rattling noise.





14. Refer to Figure 12 for cable routing/connections procedures described in steps 15 through 18. Be sure all RF cable connections fit securely and neatly into the quarter panel area and are behind the vertical support struts.

15. Connect the RF cable coming from the center console to the linear compensator connector labeled PORTABLE.

16. Connect the antenna switch cable labeled BOOSTER to the linear compensator connector labeled ANTENNA.

17. Connect the antenna switch cable labeled EMERGENCY to the RF cable coming from the Tele Aid control module.

18. Connect the RF cable from the bumper antenna to the antenna switch connector labeled ANTENNA.

NOTICE!
DO NOT reverse the above RF connections. Reversing the RF connections can result in limiting the range, or total failure, of the Tele Aid Emergency Call System.

19. Connect the 4-pole connector to the antenna switch.





20. Fit the compensator into the quarter panel opening (Figure 13).

Note:
Do not pinch or stretch the wiring and RF cables. Be sure that the top leg of the compensator bracket is behind the diagonal support member and two lower legs are in front of the vertical support members.

21. Secure the front, then the rear, compensator bracket leg to the vehicle with an M6 sheet metal screw, but do not tighten completely.

22. Slide the antenna switch bracket between the vertical support member and the top compensator bracket leg.

Note:
The writing on the switch should be facing the outside of the vehicle and the switch bracket U-shape should wrap around the compensator bracket leg.

23. Secure the brackets to the support member with the M6x12 machine screws. making sure that no wires are caught between the brackets and support member.

24. Tighten the three (3) compensator bracket mounting screws.
