Function

The TV tuner (Europe, USA, A2/42) is actuated by the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) via CAN COMAND.

Antenna diversity function
The TV tuner analyzes the reception field amplitude of the four incoming TV antenna signals. The high frequency signal from the antenna with the highest reception field amplitude is demodulated (antenna diversity).

Demodulation function
The high frequency signal received is converted to an intermediate frequency and demodulated into audio and video signals. The TV video signal demodulated in this manner (RGBS signal) and the TV audio signal are transmitted to the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) and rear monitor (A40/2).

BEST function
The TV tuner searches the entire TV reception band. Thereby each station received is noted with its reception field amplitude. The best receivable stations (sorted according to reception field amplitude) are stored on the storage locations of the TV tuner.

SEEK function
The TV tuner finds the nearest receivable TV station in the reception frequency band and demodulates it.

SCAN function
A receivable station is demodulated for approx 8 s by the TV tuner (A2/10) and displayed. Then the next receivable station in the frequency band is found and demodulated. etc.
