Function
The traffic data recorder (A2/43) receives traffic messages via the CAN COMAND or CAN telephone bus regardless of whether TMC or TCS operation has been selected on the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3). The traffic data recorder (A2/43) decodes the messages and relays them to the navigation processor (A40/3n2) via the CAN COMAND bus on request.
The data remains stored for a maximum of 30 minutes in the traffic data recorder (A2/43) (up to 100 messages) even during the COMAND shut-off delay period.
The traffic data recorder (A2/43) requires a current "location list" from the navigation processor (A40/3n2) for synchronization. Each section of the route and each marked point (e.g. freeway entry) for the network of roads monitored in terms of the traffic situation is defined clearly by a number in the location list. This list is stored originally on the CD-ROM.
It is loaded automatically as required (e.g. when CD-ROM is changed) by the navigation processor (A40/3n2) via the CAN COMAND bus in the non-volatile memory of the A2/43.
