Body Control Systems: Description and Operation

Overhead Control Panel:

The above switches, lamps and sensors are integrated into the overhead control panel control module (70) as well as the actual control module.

The interior rearview mirror unit (A67) is connected using a multipin cable.

The overhead control panel control module (N70) has the following tasks:
- Controlling the anti-glare functions of the interior rearview mirror unit (A67) and the outside rearview mirror (Code 249)
- Controlling the interior lighting
- Controlling the sliding/pop-up roof (SR)

- Reading in the integrated switches and sensors:
- SR switch (N70s1).
- Rear dome lamp switch (N70s2),
- Dome lamp switch (N70s3),
- Interior lamp ON and OFF switch (N70s4),
- Left front reading lamp switch (N70s6).
- Right front reading lamp switch (N70s7),
- In-car air temperature sensor (N70b1)

- Reading in the sensors:
- Rain sensor (B38)
- Automatic light switch daylight sensor (B32/1)
- Left front IR receiver (A26/1)
- Right front IR receiver (A26/2)
- Hall sensor 1, SR (M12b1)
- Hall sensor 2, SR (M12b2)
- Front SR obstruction sensor (B61b1)
- Rear SR obstruction sensor (B61b2)

- Reading and actuating the components of the interior mirror unit (A67)
- Actuation and control of the integrated dome lamp and reading lamps
- Power supply and actuation of rear interior lamp E15/3
- Power supply to left sun visor with illuminated mirror (E14/1)
- Power supply to sun right sun visor with illuminated mirror (E14/2)

The overhead control panel control module (N70) is connected to the interior CAN in order to exchange data.

Measuring passenger compartment temperature, purpose
The interior sensor aspirator fan in the overhead control panel control module is actuated via the interior CAN bus (CAN B) at the request of the pushbutton control module. A diagnosis check is first performed on the sensor aspirator fan.

Then the overhead control panel control module signals the status and the measured interior compartment temperature to the pushbutton control module via the interior CAN bus (CAN B). Under certain operating conditions the pushbutton control module requests that the the blower be switched on even when the ignition is switched off. (e.g. residual engine heat utilization).
