Closing Assist Inoperative

After working on the doors, door Systems or door control modules in Model 220 or 215 vehicles, if you encounter instances where the closing assist is inoperative or the fault code 1602 is stored in any of the door control modules this may have been caused by either of the following sequence of events.

a) Connector 8 (power locking valve) has been unplugged although the door control module has not been disconnected from the battery

or:

b) Connector 1 (the power supply for the door control module) is plugged in before Connector 8 (power locking valve) is plugged in when replacing the door control module.

Door Control Modules:

N6411 - Left Front
N6412 - Right Front
N6413 - Left Rear
N6414 - Right Rear

The following steps will only clear fault code 1602 if one of the above has occurred. Do not replace the door control module.

Turn off circuit 15
Turn Circuit 15 back on
Erase the fault memory

If the fault code persists, further diagnosis is required.
