Malfunctions in the Brake Assist System (BAS) are signalled by the multi-function display in the instrument cluster.

Multi-Function Display Evaluation
If the multi-function display (A1p13) indicates "Brake Assist BAS, consult a workshop" when the engine is running, there is a malfunction in the Brake Assist system. BAS is inoperative, the Automatic Slip Regulation/Anti-Lock Brake System (ASR/ABS) function is retained

The fault is stored in the respective control module and can be read out with the diagnosis tool
