Displaying Engine Speed

Networking:

Networking
- The engine speed is recorded by the crankshaft position sensor (L5).
- The signals of the crankshaft position sensor (L5) are read in by the injection system control module (N3) and placed as a message (in rpm) on the CAN engine compartment.
- The instrument cluster (A1) receives this message and actuates the stepper motor of the tachometer (A1p5) according to the engine speed.

Warning range
The warning range (marked red on the scale) starts on vehicles with
- Gasoline engines at 6000 rpm
- Diesel engines at 4600 rpm

Adaptation to the number of cylinders
An adaptation of the tachometer (A1p5) to the number of cylinders of the engine is not necessary.

NOTE: If CAN values are implausible the pointer of the tachometer (A1p5) is controlled to the left end of the scale. In addition, a fault bit is stored in the fault memory.
