Displaying Vehicle Speed Ranges With Segment Speedometer

Segmented speedometer
Segments of the outer scale of the electronic speedometer (A1p8) can be made brighter. This facility is used for <>, the <>.

Segmented speedometer - vehicle speed limiter for winter tires
If the vehicle speed limiter for winter tires is switched on, the first 21 segments (from 0 to 210 km/h are made brighter. This clearly emphasizes the active speed range.

Segmented speedometer for <
The <> and <> systems make use of the segmented speedometer as follows:
If the set speed is in a scale segment, the associated scale segment is made brighter. If it is between two scale segments, the two adjacent scale segments are made brighter.

Examples:
- The set speed is 85 km/h
(Value is in one segment), then
the 0 - 80 km/h segments are dark
the 80 - 90 km/h segment light
the 90 - 260 km/h segments dark

- The set vehicle speed is 89-91 km/h
(Value is between two segments), then
the 0 - 80 km/h segments are dark
the 80 - 100 km/h segment light
the 100 - 260 km/h segments dark

If the speedometer needle leaves the brighter area, further scale segments are made bright according to the speedometer deflection. This clearly signals deviations from the set speed to the driver.

CAN data for segmented speedometer
The data for the <> is received by the instrument cluster (A1) from the injection system control module (N3) via the CAN engine compartment.
