AP82.10-P-8260M Check and Correct Headlamp Adjustment












Check

NOTE: During the entire headlamp adjustment procedure the vehicle should not be subjected to differences in load Persons should not enter or exit the vehicle or lean on the vehicle.

1 Park vehicle on level surface
2 Set selector lever to position N
3 Release foot-operated parking brake

DANGER:
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you hold your hands into engine when it is started or when it is running.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself.
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


4 Start motor, switch on low beams
5 Actuate level selection switch, set to higher level without sitting down in vehicle

NOTE: The message "Vehicle lifting" appears on the instrument cluster. Wait until message disappears.
- Increased level is reached.

6 Actuation level selection switch and set to normal level without sitting down in vehicle

NOTE: Wait 2 minutes to ensure that normal level is reached.

7 Switch off engine
8 Read off adjustment value in %, for main and auxiliary headlamp on vehicle headlamp or in the vicinity of the vehicle headlamp and adjust scale of headlamp adjustment tester.

NOTE: 1% angle "n" corresponds to 10 cm adjustment dimension "e".

9 Align headlamp adjustment tester to vehicle and adjust height to center of lens.

NOTE: Precisely observe operating instructions for headlamp adjustment tester.

10 Check low beams
- Adjust if necessary

NOTE: Due to the common reflector unit on model 220 the low beams, high beams and fog lamps are adjusted simultaneously.

11 Check high beam adjustment
12 Check fog lamps.
