Kickdown Switch
LOCATION
- The kickdown switch (S16/6) is located behind the accelerator pedal in the footwell.
TASK
- To influence the shift program of the electronic transmission control.
DESIGN
- The kickdown switch (S16/6) consists of a spring-loaded electrical switch contact.
FUNCTION
- After the kickdown switch (S16/6) has been operated via the accelerator pedal, a CAN signal is passed on from the EWM to the ETC control module.
- Based on this information, the transmission control module actuates the solenoid valves so that the downshifts occur at higher engine speed to achieve maximum performance.
