Checking Electrical Function

Preliminary operation:
Check electrical function of the central locking, Testing and Inspection

NOTE: On vehicles with infrared remote central locking as of 01/94 the trunk lid lock actuator (S49) is not connected electrically (except (USA) (J))






Prepare for testing
Numbers 1 - 3.
Closing function of the actuator
Check.
Opening function of the actuator
Check.
Voltage supply at the actuator
Check.

Commercially available tool
Digital multimeter e.g. Sun, DMM-5


Preparing test





1 Remove actuator.
2 Remove electrical cable harness and pneumatic line
3 Loosen sliding sleeve (a) and slide over the switching rod retainer (b) (not on the trunk lid lock actuator S49).

NOTE: If no defects are established when testing:
1. Check contacts of the plug connection
2. Check control line from actuator to the supply pump (driver's door, left, blue; driver's door, right, green; trunk lid, yellow) in accordance with the circuit diagram and check for continuity.
