Roll Bar: Testing and Inspection

91-830 Testing Roll-over Bar For Proper Function

Set rotating part (1) on one of the two rear axle switches to "arrested".

Then drive the vehicle to test. The roll-over bar should extend (crash actuation) when the vehicle is braked sharply from a speed of approx. 5-10 km/h. After testing set the rotating part (1) back to "Function".

NOTE: A clicking noise is audible as the roll-over bar extends.

As of version 06/95
The roll-over bar can be actuated with the HHT (crash actuation) for checking the function.

For safety reasons a warning message appears asking if anyone is within the extension radius of the roll-over bar followed by four random numbers. These random numbers must be repeated before the crash actuation can be tripped.

All versions
Retract roll-over bar. For this purpose press switch (S83) to the up position (extend) until the lock catches audibly (min. 5 s). Then press the switch to the down position (retract) until the roll- over bar is retracted.

NOTE: If the roll-over bar has been actuated (crash actuation), the lock must be reengaged by moving the actuating element up before it is possible to lower the roll-over bar.
