AR42.20-P-0520A Remove/install front brake cable
NOTE: For model name/model number cross reference refer to Model Designation Table. Application and ID
Removal
1. Carefully lower transmission with engine carrier.
- Model 140, the engine must not touch the component compartment wall.
2. Model 202, 208 and 210, remove cover sheet (12i) below the rear squab.
3. Model 129 and 140, remove heat shield of exhaust system.
4. Preload automatic slack adjuster.
- Model 140.
- Model 202, 208 or 210.
5. Detach return spring (94).
6. Model 129, loosen adjusting screw (89).
7. Detach brake control cable (85) on intermediate lever (91) and vehicle floor.
- Use clip remover tool No 129 589 11 63 00 (043) for unclipping on the vehicle floor.
- The brake control cable can also be removed by destroying the clamping ring (84).
- To install, insert new clamping ring into the groove of the brake control cable.
- Models 129 or 140: Replace self-locking screw (93).
8. Remove cover below instrument panel.
9. Remove front floor covering.
10. Detach brake control cable (85) on pedal (75).
- Use clip remover tool No. 129 589 11 63 00 (043).
- The brake control cable can also be removed by destroying the clamping ring (84).
- Pay attention to rubber grommet (85b).
Installation
11. Install in reverse sequence, noting the following:
- To install cable if clamping ring was destroyed during removal, insert new clamping ring into the groove of the brake control cable.
12. Models 140, 202, 208 or 210, release automatic slack adjuster, refer to "Releasing Automatic Slack Adjuster".
