Headlamp: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Headlamp Unit
- with CODE (612b) Xenon headlamp







DANGER:
- Parts under high tension Do not touch
- Do not touch parts conducting high voltage.
- Persons with electronic implants (e.g. heart pacemakers) should not perform any type of work on the ignition system.
- High voltage from Xenon headlamp
- Do not touch parts conducting high voltage.
- Persons with active electronic implants (e.g. heart pacemakers) should not perform work on Xenon headlamps.



1 Disconnect ground lead from battery

CAUTION: On model 210 insulate terminal on ground lead to prevent unintentional contact between disconnected ground lead and ground point W10.

2 Remove front shock absorber
3 Unscrew screws (1)
4 Unscrew nut (8)

CAUTION: Installation: Adjust lamp unit so that intervals between fender and closed engine hood are uniform

5 Unclip feed line for headlamp cleaning system below headlamp unit
6 Carefully pull out headlamp unit (E1 or E2) toward front
7 Disconnect electrical connections (2) from headlamp unit (E1 or E2)
8 Disconnect vacuum line (3) from headlamp range adjustment
- On vehicles with pneumatic headlamp range adjustment

9 Reinstall in opposite order
10 Check headlamp unit for proper function
11 Check headlamp adjustment, correct
- On vehicles with pneumatic headlamp range adjustment

NOTE: On vehicles with xenon headlamp units (code 612b). Program zero position with HHT

12 Check headlamp cleaning system for proper function
- On vehicles with headlamp cleaning system (code 600a)
