B. Mounting The (PSE) , Linear Compensator & Opt. (VRM) Module

1. Remove the first aid kit and left rear trunk interior trim panel (Figure 1).

2. Locate, and route through the front trunk panel hole (A, Figure 1), the:

^ 25-pole sub-D-connector

^ coaxial cable from the front center console

^ two fiber optic connectors

^ integrated antenna coupling

3. Locate and route the 15-pole sub-D connector through the trunk panel hole toward the rear (B, Figure 1).

4. Connect the female 25-pole Y-connector ( labeled PSE to the PSE module. Fold the cable and tie it back with the cable ties. Place the PSE module in the foam mounting block (Figure 2).

5. Connect the Y-cable 14-pole green connector to the linear compensator.

6. Connect the male Y-cable connector to the vehicle side 25-pole pre-wire harness and feed the excess cable back into the fender well through the front hole in the trunk panel.

7. Place the PSE with foam mounting block partially into the trim panel opening.

Note:
Push some of the nylon mounting straps (part of the trunk panel) through their mounting holes to gain clearance for this step and for the mounting of the linear compensator mounting plate.

8. Remove the protective cap from the configured fiber optic right-angled connector and insert it into the receptacle on the PSE module.

9. Connect the coaxial cable from the antenna (terminated in a right-angled mini-UHF connector) to the antenna switch connector labeled Antenna and place the PSE with foam mounting block fully into the trim panel opening.

10. Attach the SAP to mini-UHF adapter, included with the installation kit, to the coaxial cable from the front console (terminated in an SAP connector).

11. Connect the mini-UHF end of the installed adapter to the linear compensator labeled Portable.

12. Connect the long cable from the antenna switch labeled Booster to the linear compensator terminal labeled Antenna.

13. Connect the short cable from the antenna switch labeled Emergency to the vehicle emergency antenna (the thin cable terminated in a female mini-UHF connector).

NOTICE:
Be sure the above coaxial connections are not reversed. Irreparable component damage may otherwise result.

14. Connect the 4-pole flat connector to the antenna switch.

15. Place the linear compensator mounting plate on the side panel and hold the panel up and as far as possible away from the lower edge. Using the mounting plate as a template, drill two 8-mm (5/1 6-in.) holes in the trim panel (Figure 3).

16. Attach the upper VRM clip by positioning the large clip hole 125-mm from the opening front edge and, using the clip as a template, drilling an 8-mm (5/16-inch) hole in the plastic panel. Fasten the clip with a plastic trim fastener (A, Figure 4).

17. Place the VRM at the clip and on the mounting plate stud, and then connect the straight fiber connector and 15-pole sub-D-connector (Figure 5).

18. Fasten the VRM to the mounting clip with a self-tapping screw.

19. Move the PSE rearward to ensure that the right-angled fiber connector does not interfere with the antenna switch electrical connector.

20. Mount the antenna switch to the plastic panel with the two self-tapping screws included with the linear compensator bracket (Figure 6).

21. Fasten the linear compensator to the ( mounting plate with the two M4 nuts included in the kit (Figure 7).

Note:
Neatly position connectors, wires, and fiber optic cables to avoid rattling and damage from rubbing or chafing against sharp edges.

22. Reinstall the previously removed trim panel cover.

23. Proceed to Section C.
