Central Locking (CL), Function
Central Locking Function Shown On Example: Close CL [ZV] On Model 203.0
The central locking system controls the function "Remote controlled opening and closing" of the vehicle These convenience features are constituents of the drive authorization system (DAS[FBS]3).
The EIS[EZS] control module (N73) has a central function here. It performs the following functions:
Governs right/left-hand steering function and correspondingly assigns the front door control modules to the driver and passenger doors.
Monitors external security conditions and transmits corresponding locking signals to the individual doors, the trunk lid and the fuel filler flap either globally or selectively depending on setting.
Releases and lock; the enabling functions for the CL[ZV] interior switch and the remote trunk release switch (model 203.0 only). Controls automatic door locking via the v-signal (v = 15 km/h).
Governs the automatic locking function. Controls relocking when a door/trunk lid is not opened within t = 40s after CL[ZV] is opened. Controls re-locking when door is opened/closed and v-threshold exceeded again.
Transmits messages for external securing and external enabling.
Switches off remote control functions when key is inserted.
Define memory range for selective opening setting via diagnosis.
Receives taxi emergency messages (controls and governs).
Re-enables locking functions after emergency opening (crash).
Monitors the actuation frequency of the CL[ZV] (child protection).
The central locking system can be operated in various manners:
- By remote control with transmitter key.
- By using the interior switch.
- By opening the driver's door from the inside
The headlamp switch-off delay function after locking is only available on vehicles with code 491 (USA).
NOTE: It is no longer possible to operate the system with the mechanical key via the lock switch since a lock switch is no longer installed. Information current to 10.11.99
