Automatic Locking

The automatic re-locking function prevents the vehicle from remaining unlocked if the transmitter key is actuated unintentionally.

When the vehicle is unlocked with the transmitter key a waiting period of 40 seconds commences. When this waiting period has expired the vehicle is re-locked unless in the meantime
- A door or the trunk lid was opened or
- The emergency opening function was triggered or
- The interior CL switch was actuated or
- The transmitter key was inserted into the keyhole in the electronic ignition / starter switch control module (N73)

These functions are controlled by the electronic ignition / starter switch control module (N73) as master.

NOTE: If the "Unlock vehicle" button on the transmitter key is pressed again before the waiting time has expired, then the waiting time is reset and restarted.
The automatic re-locking function also activates the anti-theft alarm system (ATA). code 551.
