GF54.30-P-3018PP Fuel Quantity Display Function

GF54.30-P-3018PP Fuel Quantity Display Function
- MODELS 203.0 /2 /7 up to 23.4.04

A1 Instrument cluster
A1p2 Fuel level and reserve indicator
B4/1 Fuel gage sensor, left half of tank
B4/2 Fuel gage sensor, right half of tank
N10/2 Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module

Networking of components:
- The fuel level transmitter, left tank half (B4/1) and the fuel level transmitter, right tank half (B4/2) change their resistance according to the level of fuel in the tank. The fuller the tank, the lower the resistance.
- The resistance of the fuel level sensor, left tank half (B4/1) and fuel level sensor, right tank half (B4/2) are read in by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
- The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) converts the resistance values of the fuel level sensor, left tank half (B4/1) and fuel level sensor, right tank half (B4/2) into a percent value, a full tank corresponds to 100%.
- This percent value is placed on the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
- The instrument cluster (A1) reads in this percent value from the CAN-B and controls the fuel level and low fuel display (A1p2) and, if necessary, the low fuel warning lamp (A1e4) accordingly. The fuel level and reserve display (A1p2) is controlled by a step motor.

Display of fuel contents:
- As of transmitter key (A8/1) in position "circuit 15 ON" the current tank contents is displayed via the fuel level and reserve indicator (A1p2).
- If the vehicle is refueled with transmitter key (A8/1) in position "circuit 15 ON", refueling (updating the display) is only detected as of a refueling quantity of at least 7 l. Once "circuit 15 ON" is reactivated the display is updated as of a refueling quantity of 3 l. The display is always updated with a delay period. This suppresses fluctuations in the display, e.g. due to cornering.

Reserve zone
If the fuel level reaches the reserve zone, the fuel reserve warning light (A1e4) lights up yellow when the engine is running. The lamp is triggered with a delay period to prevent the lamp flickering. In addition the message "TANK RESERVE - LOCATE A FUEL STATION" appears in the multifunction display (A1p13)".

Tank type coding
4 tank characteristics for coding the tank are available. The selection is effected via the vehicle configuration data in a control unit via the CAN-B.

In the case of a fault the pointer of the fuel level and reserve indicator (A1p2) is moved to the left stop. The fuel reserve warning lamp (A1e4) does not come on. The same applies if, due to implausible sensor values while driving, a tight installation of the fuel level sensor, left tank half (B4/1) and/or fuel level sensor, right tank half (B4/2) is detected.
