Sidebag design
- The sidebag unit is located in a housing, which also houses the folded airbag, the hybrid gas generator and ignition squib.
- On the front face of the housing is a set breakthrough area for the escaping airbag.
- The electric connection for the ignition squib is located on the rear face of the housing.
- In the case of a separate plug connector, the connection of the ignition squib is short-circuited independently via a short-circuit link.

The sidebag units are fitted with hybrid gas generators, which offer the following advantages when compared to standard gas generators:
- acid-free
- simplified disposal
