Combination Switch: Service and Repair



AR54.25-P-2800P Remove/Install Combination Switch







DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury from caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead acid batteries.
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear acid-protective gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


1 Connect quiescent current retention unit

See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

2 Disconnect ground cable of battery

DANGER:
- Risk of injury when carrying out test or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units
- Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 degrees C. Interrupt power supply when working on such units.


3 Remove steering wheel

CAUTION: Important instructions for performing repair, body work and welding on vehicles with airbags and emergency tensioning retractors

4 Remove clock spring contact
5 Unscrew bolts (31)

6 Remove cruise control switch (S40) from jacket tube cover (33)

NOTE: Move cruise control switch to one side. CODE (440a) Cruise control.

7 Unclip connectors (32) and pull out of combination switch housing

NOTE: Unlock in direction of arrow and pull out towards steering wheel.

8 Remove combination switch (S4) from jacket tube cover (33)
9 Disconnect combination switch plug connector (S4x1)
10 Install in the reverse order
11 Carry out operational check
