Windscreen Wiper




Wiper System Networking:






Procedure with wiper at setting 1
- The wipe front windshield at slow speed function is switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "2".
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read in by the pushbutton control module (N73) and sent to the interior CAN as a message.
- The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) receives this message and turns the wiper on/off relay on and off (N10/kH).
- Term. 15R is switched to wiper motor (M6/1)term. 53 (wiper setting 1) via the wiper level 1 and 2 relay (N10/1kC). (The wiper level 1 and 2 relay (N10/1kC) is not actuated.)
- The wiper motor operates at low speed.

Procedure for wiping at setting 2
- The wipe front windshield at high speed is switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "3".
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read in by the pushbutton control module (N73) and sent to the interior CAN as a message.
- The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) receives this message and actuates the wiper on/off relay (N10/1kH) and the wiper setting 1 and 2 relay (N10/1kC).
- Term. 15R is switched to wiper motor (M6/1) term. 53b (wiper setting 2) via the wiper setting 1 and 2 relay (N10/1kC). (The wiper setting 1 and 2 relay (N10/1kC) is actuated.)
- The wiper motor operates at fast speed.

Switching off the wiper function
- If the combination switch (S4) is moved to position "0" the above message is not longer on the CAN.
- When the wiper motor reaches the home position the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) is responsible for decelerating the wiper. (If the wiper was switched off from setting 2, the wiper motor is changed down to setting 1 until the home position is reached.)
- The wiper motor remains in home position.


NOTE: If term. 15R is switched off during a wiping procedure, the wipers remain in their current position.


NOTE: The wiper motor (M6/1) can be switched back to interval wiping by the automatic speed speed downshift facility.
