Automatic Locking

Automatic Locking Function Shown On Model 203.0:

Function requirements
Vehicle speed greater than 15 km/h
Automatic locking activated in instrument cluster

Operational sequence
The automatic locking function locks the vehicle centrally with the exception of the fuel filler flap as soon as the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold of approx. 15 km/h.

This occurs as soon as the EIS[EZS] control module (N73) recognizes from the vehicle speed signal via CAN that the threshold has been exceeded.

In this case the EIS[EZS] control module (N73) transmits the "Lock" command via CAN to the door control modules and the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2). These activate the locking of the door locks and trunk lid.

When the vehicle speed falls below the threshold, the vehicle can be unlocked again by opening a door from the inside or by means of the interior central locking switch (N72/1s6).

If the vehicle is unlocked with the interior central locking switch (N72/1s6) after automatic locking, the vehicle remains unlocked even at speeds in excess of the threshold. The initial state is regained by opening one door or by switching circuit 15 on and off again.

If, after automatic locking has engaged, one door is opened while the vehicle is traveling faster than the threshold speed, this door will lock again after it is closed.

NOTE:
The automatic locking function can be deactivated or activated by means of
- the operating menu in the instrument cluster (A1)
- the diagnostic system.
