Automatic Dimming, Left/Right Outside Rearview Mirror

Function prerequisites
- No over or undervoltage
- Terminal 15R or 15 ON
- No reverse gear

Function
Mirror dimming is dependent on the applied control voltage, and is gradual. The electronic circuit in the inside rearview mirror assembly records the ambient tight and the light impinging on the mirror glass, analyzes these input parameters and sends dimming data to the overhead control panel control module (N70), which in turn sets up the CAN bus message for dimming the mirror.

The two input parameters are recorded by the mirror dimming to front sensor (A67h1) in the mirror housing (reverse side) and from the mirror dimming to rear sensor (A67h2) in the mirror glass of the inside rearview mirror assembly (A67).

Depending upon the version (LHS/RHS) the left front, door-control module (N69/1)/right front, door-control module (N69/2) evaluate the dimming data and send the corresponding control signal voltage to the mirror dimming feature on the driver's mirror.
