Wiping in stage "1", function sequence
- The slow windshield wiping function can be switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "II".
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read by the EIS control unit (N73) or the steering column module (N80) and is relayed as a message to the CAN-B (CAN-B).
- The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) receives this message and actuates the wiper ON/OFF relay (N10/1kQ).
- Circuit 5R is connected through the wiper stage 1-2 relay (N10/1kL) to circuit 53 (wiping stage 1) of the wiper motor (M6/1) (the wiper stage 1-2 relay (N10/1kL) is not actuated in this case).
- The wiper motor operates at (M6/1) low speed.
Wiping in stage "2", function sequence
- The fast windshield wiping function can be switched on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "III".
- The position of the combination switch (S4) is read by the EIS control unit (N73) or the steering column module (N80) and is relayed as a message to the CAN-B (CAN-B).
- The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) receives this message and actuates the wiper ON/OFF relay (N10/1kQ) and the wiper stage 1-2 relay (N10/1kL).
- Circuit 15R is connected through the wiper stage 1-2 relay (N10/1kL) to circuit 53b (wiping stage 2) of the wiper motor (M6/1) (the wiper stage 1-2 relay (N10/1kL) is actuated in this case).
- The wiper motor (M6/1) operates at high speed.
Switching off wiping function
- When the combination switch (S4) is turned to the "0" position, the above message is no longer present on CAN-B (CAN-B).
- When the wiper motor (M6/1) reaches the park position, the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) brakes the wiper (if the wiper motor was switched off from stage 2, the wiper motor (M6/1) is switched into stage 1 before it reaches the park position).
- The wiper motor (M6/1) stops in the park position.
If circuit 15R is switched off during a wipe cycle, the wipers stop in their current position.
The wiper motor (M6/1) can be switched back to intermittent wiping with the automatic speed reduction feature.
