AR83.55-P-5300PV Remove/Install Refrigerant Compressor
- with CODE (580a) Automatic air conditioning
- with CODE (581b) Convenience automatic air conditioning

DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning. Inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors may be toxic. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.
- Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or open flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.
CAUTION: Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work.
1 Remove drier cartridge.
NOTE: Installation: Each time the refrigerant circuit is opened the drier cartridge must be replaced.
- Observe additional oil quantity after replacing parts:
Correct oil level in air conditioning after replacing parts.
2 Remove air inlet pipe (3).
3 Remove poly V-belt.
4 Disconnect AC compressor connector (A9x1)
5 Unscrew screws (1).
- Screw for intake line on refrigerant compressor: 20 N.m
- Screw for pressure line on AC compressor: 20 N.m
6 Remove intake and high pressure lines (11, 10) and lay down to side.
CAUTION: Seal openings of intake and high-pressure lines (11, 10) in order to avoid any contamination.
NOTE: Installation: Replace O-rings. Moisten threads and O-rings with compressor oil.

7 Unscrew screw (2)
- Screw for refrigerant compressor on bracket: 20 N.m
8 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling
NOTE: Front engine compartment panel.
9 Unscrew screw (2a)
- Screw for refrigerant compressor on bracket: 20 N.m
10 Remove refrigerant compressor (A9)
NOTE: Remove refrigerant compressor (A9) upward between engine and electric fan.
11 Install in the reverse order
12 Correct oil level in AC compressor (A9)
NOTE: if refrigerant compressor (A9) has to be renewed as a consequence of internal damage, then steps 13 and 14 should also be performed.
Replace:
13 Replace intake and high-pressure lines (11, 10) with sealing rings
14 Replace expansion valve.
