Prerequisite For Wiper Systeming

Wiper System Networking:

Function prerequisites
Function prerequisite for all wiper system functions is:
Terminal 15R: ON

Safety shut-off
In order to minimize the possible risk of injury, the following safety precautions have been taken:

1. If the engine hood is opened at a speed of less then 5 kph. the wiper function ceases to operate immediately. A wiper function cannot be carried out until the engine hood has been closed again.
2. If the "engine hood" (switch fault) is opened at a speed of greater than 8 kph, wiper operation does not cease until the speed has dropped below 5 kph.
Wiper operation cannot start again until the engine hood" has been closed again and/or the speed increases to more than 8 kph.

3. If a front door is open and the wiper is not in the end position when term. ISR is switched on, the wiper start is suppressed. The position of the combination switch (S4) does not matter.
4. The interval wiping function is suppressed at a vehicle speed of less than 5 kph if one of the front doors is open.

The conditions in point 2 also guarantee that the wiper will work whilst driving even if the engine hood ATA switch (S62) is faulty or there are wiring problems.

In order to perform the safety shut-off the front left and right door contact switches (S17/3, S17/4) and the engine hood ATA switch (S62) are read in by the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and sent to the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the interior CAN. The speed signal reaches the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) from the instrument cluster (A1) via the interior CAN.

The front windshield wiper system is operated using combination switch (S4).

The following functions are available:
- Touch-wiping: One wiper movement is carried out. To operate this function. push the combination switch (S4) until it engages!
- Interval wiping(with code 345a with automatic interval control via the rain sensor B38). To operate this function. turn combination switch (S4) to position "1"!
- Wiping at slow speed (setting 1, approx. 40 cycles/mm). To operate this function, turn combination switch (S4) to position "2"!
- Wiping at fast speed (setting 2, approx. 60 cycles/min). To operate this function, turn combination switch (S4) to position "3"!
- Washing: The front windshield is wiped with water spray. To operate this function. turn combination switch (S4) past the engaging point!
