Filling And Bleeding Power Steering Pump

Model 220:
- except CODE (487a) Active body control (ABC)
- with CODE (979) Special protection version
- with CODE (Z04) Light armoring
- with CODE (Z07) Top protection

Shown On Engine 112:

Model 210 With Level Control (Tandem Pump):

NOTE: Under no circumstances should the power steering pump draw in air

1 Remove charge air distribution pipe cover together with cover above power steering pump
2 Fill power steering reservoir up to approx. 10 mm below the upper edge of the reservoir

NOTE: If necessary pull off air intake hose (47)

3 Start engine 2 to 3 times

NOTE: The steering system bleeds itself automatically.

4 When the engine is running, turn the steering wheel several times from lock to lock, meanwhile depending on the version filling up with MB steering gear oil or central hydraulics oil if necessary

5 Check and correct oil level
6 Check steering system for leaks

NOTE: If oil level is too low, locate and rectify the cause.

7 Install charge air distribution pipe together with cover above power steering pump
