Seat Cushion Rocks When Braking and Accelerating or Makes a Cracking Noise

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the front of the seat cushion rocks when braking and accelerating or makes a cracking noise, this may be caused by excessive clearance for the stepped bolt. To resolve, install replacement bolts with an 0-ring which are available as spare parts for seats with the height adjustment mechanism manufactured by Brose. A label identifying the seat height adjustment manufacturer can be found on the mechanism (Figure 1).

1. Adjust the seat cushion to the maximum height.

2. Remove affected seat per WIS document AR91.10-P-1000F.

3. The stepped bolt is now visible just below the lower edge of the seat covering or upholstery near the front on both the left and right sides (Figure 2).

4. Remove original bolt (Figure 3, left bolt) and replace with new bolt with 0-ring (Figure 3, right bolt) on both the door side and tunnel side of the front seat together with a new crimp nut.

5. Reinstall affected seat following WIS document AR91.10-P-1000F.
