Shown On Model 215:
Filling
DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid.
- Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and eye protection.
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during startup or while running may result in contusions and burns
- Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off.
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.
- Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
NOTE: See notes on active body control suspension.
1 Fill expansion reservoir (2) of ABC system with hydraulic fluid
CAUTION: The funnel with filter (060) must not be used with other service fluids. To prevent damage caused by the penetration of dirt into the ABC system, the funnel with filter (060) must be kept in a closed cupboard.
NOTE: The vehicle must be horizontal
2 Push dipstick (2a) as far as possible into expansion reservoir (2) and withdraw again, read off fluid level and correct if necessary.
NOTE:
- Read off fluid level on dipstick (2a) on the side with the inscription "ENGINE OFF UNLADEN".
- The fluid level must be between the "min" and "max" marks.
3 Start engine
CAUTION:
- Observe the fluid level in the expansion reservoir (2) during the entire process. The fluid level in the expansion reservoir (2) must not drop below the "MIN" mark.
- The tandem pump (1) must not draw in any air otherwise it will be damaged beyond repair.
4 Press button for level control repeatedly until both indicator lamps in the button for level control go out.
5 Push dipstick (2a) as far as possible into expansion reservoir (2) and withdraw again, read off fluid level and correct if necessary.
NOTE:
- Read off fluid level on dipstick (2a) on the side with the inscription "ENGINE ON UNLADEN".
- The fluid level must be between the "min" and "max" marks
Bleeding
6 Pressurize the ABC system manually
NOTE:
- If installing a new tandem pump (1).
- The vehicle must be ready to drive and standing on its wheels.

8 Press button for level control repeatedly until both indicator lamps in the button for level control go out.
NOTE:
- Repeat steps 7 and 8 at least 3 times
- After removing and reinstalling or installing new suspension struts or valve units repeat steps 7 and 8 at least 10 to 20 times
9 Switch off engine
10 After a resting period of approx. 5 minutes, withdraw dipstick (2a) from reservoir (2) and wipe off dipstick (2a) with a lint-free cloth.
11 Push dipstick (2a) into reservoir (2), withdraw again and read off fluid level on dipstick (2a).
NOTE:
- Read off fluid level on dipstick (2a) on the side with the inscription "ENGINE OFF UNLADEN".
- The fluid level must be between the "min" and "max" marks.
12 Start engine
DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
13 Check ABC front axle valve unit (Y36/1) and ABC rear axle valve unit (Y36/2) for whistling sounds
NOTE: If whistling sounds can be heard in ABC front axle valve unit (Y36/1) and ABC rear axle valve unit (Y36/2).
CAUTION:
- Turn off engine immediately!
- Raise vehicle with lifting platform until the suspension struts are unloaded!
