CHECKING/REPLACING ETC CONTROL MODULE (N15/3)

On the vehicles listed below, in the Effective Serial Number Range table, the WIS program switch (S16/10s2) (88, Figure 1) may not function properly, when selecting either the "W" or "S" program.

As a result, the vehicle will drive in the "S" program only (A1p12, Figure 2), which requires replacement of the ETC control module (N15/3).

Please perform this Service Campaign during the vehicle's next scheduled service visit.

Please "Checking/Replacement Procedure."

CHECKING/REPLACING PROCEDURE

1. Prior to performing this Service Campaign, please check VMI to insure the vehicle is involved and to determine if the vehicle has been previously repaired.

2. Insert ignition key into ignition lock.

3. Turn ignition key to second position.

4. Press the WIS program switch (S16/1052), to both the "W" and the "S" position, while watching the instrument cluster display (A1p12, Figure 2) window. The display (A1p12, Figure 2) must indicate the position as selected by the WIS program switch (S16/10s2).

5. If the display does not indicate the proper "W" or "S" position, the ETC control module (N15/3) must be replaced.

6. Prior to replacing the ETC control module (N15/3) as necessary, review WIS document:
AR27.19-P-17191 and Figure 3 below.

7. Perform function test (see step 4 above) of the WIS program switch (S16/10s2) (88, Figure 1), to ensure proper function before returning vehicle back to the customer.
