Front Axle/Rear Axle Brake Proportion
To reduce the thermal load and wear on the front brakes, the proportion of braking done at the rear axle was considerably increased. The front axle/rear axle brake proportion ratio is now 65.6 : 34.4. To assure vehicle stability while braking, ABS activation at the rear axle occurs sooner than at the front axle. As is the case with model 140, the master brake cylinder switchover valve (Y61) switches to conventional brake proportion (74.3 : 25.7) when driving at high speed in curves or in the event of an ABS malfunction.
