GF82.61-P-4001P Destination Guidance In Non-digitalized Map Area, Function
- with CODE (352a) COMAND operating and display system
- except CODE (491) U.S. version
- except CODE (498) Japanese version
When traveling outside the digitized map area (e.g. multi-level car parks, dirt tracks, etc.), but still within the Compact Disc (CD) map boundaries, the navigation processor switches over to "Navigation in non-digitized map area".The message "OFF ROAD" appears on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) display. If the vehicle is outside the CD map boundary (outside the country), the message "OFF MAP" is displayed.
On model 203 as of 1.7.02 the road map is displayed when entering the OFF ROAD mode and route information is displayed during OFF ROAD mode
In both cases only basic position finding (dead reckoning) with correction is performed using the global positioning system (GPS) data.
Limited destination guidance takes place while only specifying:
^ straight-line distance to the destination
^ direction to destination (as arrow).
After reentering the digitized map area, the system automatically continues with "Destination guidance in digitized map area" . The GPS position is used to help determine the roads on which the vehicle could be located. During this process a slight delay in the route guidance may result.
When the message "OFF MAP" appears, navigation can be continued by inserting a corresponding CD for the foreign country in question.
