GF82.85-P-2007TB Telephone Mode, Function

Telephone operation
The telephone system can be operated as follows:
^ Directly at the radio operating module (A2)
^ with the portable CTEL (A34/6)
^ via the multifunction steering wheel in combination with the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (A1)

Function
Following the request via the operating unit the telephone radio signals are transmitted and received with the telephone antenna (A2/22). These signals are transmitted to the telephone interface via the CTEL [TEL] compensator, data (A28/2) (A34/4)Furthermore, the task of the compensator is to adjust by amplification losses occurring due to the higher transmission frequency of the E network.

The telephone is illustrated by a symbol, if it is operational, in the display of the radio control panel (A2). Likewise the reception field strength of the telephone is displayed after plugging into the bracket on the top right.

All control and wanted signals (e.g. audio signals from activated hands-free system) are transferred via the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST).

The portable CTEL (A34/6) requires an interface with MOST for communication with the MOST participants; the telephone interface (A34/4).

The portable CTEL battery (A34/6) is charged via the telephone interface (A34/4).
The battery is charged automatically as soon as the CTEL interface (A34/4) is active, and this irrespective of whether the portable CTEL (A34/6) is switched on or off.
The radio operating module (A2) has the following telephone functions:
^ Direct dial of the phone number via the numerical keypad and display of the name of the person called (if the number entered is known)
-> Selection of the last 10 answered calls
-> Selection of the last 10 unanswered calls

^ Conference calls (up to 7 calls)
^ Dial repeat
^ Listening to mailbox
^ Switching between calls (toggling)
^ Display of an incoming SMS
^ Telephone book
Selection from memory lists sorted according to:
-> S Memory location numbers
-> N Names (alphabetic)
-> A Display of phone number for incoming call (if the number is transmitted at the same time)
-> A Display of the name (if number is known)
-> T Telephone book processing
-> N Notebook toggling

^ Automatic banning of the telephone card after three incorrect entries of the Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Telephone variants
The following variants for CTEL operation are available for selection:
^ Preinstallation for MB phone "CTEL", complete (code 380) with telephone interface (A34/4)
^ MB phone "CTEL" (code 382) with telephone interface (A34/4) and Nokia Portable CTEL

The CTEL [TEL] interface (A34/4) is from the same manufacturer as the portable CTEL. It realizes the physical connection of the cellular phone to the MOST system and the protocol implementation in accordance with the MOST specification. The interface has its own housing.

Hands-free mode
During a call it must be possible for the user to be able to hold the conversation using the hands-free system. For this the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) is located in the inside rearview mirror. From there the microphone signals are passed on directly to the telephone interface (A34/4), digitized and transmitted to the audio gateway control module (N93/1) via the MOST.

The signals are processed there and issued over the vehicle speakers. During a hands-free telephone call the audio source is automatically muted.

SMS text messages
Reading and editing an SMS is only possible via the portable CTEL (A34/6).
Incoming SMS messages are illustrated as mail on the display.

The volume is separately adjustable for telephone operation.
