Remove/Install Rear Axle Brake Caliper
Shown On Rear Axle Model 230.474:
DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result If vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of injury, body parts may become jammed or crushed. Risk of injury, skin and eyes may be injured due to brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system
- Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
1 Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
CAUTION: See notes on repairs to brake system
2 Remove rear wheels.
3 Remove brake hose (51)
4 Unplug right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4) at right rear brake pad contact sensor connector (S10/4x1)
CAUTION: See notes on installing contact sensors for brake wear indicator
5 Detach right rear brake pad connector (S10/4x1) from right fixed brake caliper
NOTE:
- Installation: install new self-locking bolt.
- Removal on the left side in the same way as on the right side.
6 Remove rear axle brake pads
7 Unscrew bolts (35) and remove fixed brake caliper (31)
NOTE: Installation: Replace bolts (35).
8 Install in the reverse order
9 Bleed brake system.
10 Activate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS
11 Bring brake pads into contact with the brake disk using STAR DIAGNOSIS
