GF27.60-P-2000RM Function of Gearshift

GF27.60-P-2000RM Function of gearshift
- Transmission 722.6 [model 209.376 up to 31.5.03, models 211.076, 230.474 up to 31.8.03]

With automatic transmission 722.6 the electrohydraulic control unit converts the electrical signals going out from the electronic transmission control (ETC) into hydraulic signals.

Faults occurring in the ETC control module (N15/3) are handled by the limp-home system. This is designed to allow the driver to reach a service outlet even under extreme conditions.

The selector lever positions "P", "R", "N" and "D" are passed on in parallel to conveying via the engine compartment CAN mechanically by means of a shift rod on the transmission side range selector lever.

Program selection "W/S"
By touching or holding the selector lever towards "+" or "-" the shift range is pre selected and displayed in the instrument cluster (A1) until a transmission upshift is possible.

Program selection "M"
Program selection "M" is only possible in selector lever position "D". The 5 forwards gears of the automatic transmission can shifted in the process directly, either via the steering wheel gear shifter MINUS (S110/1), steering wheel gear shifter PLUS (S111/1) or via the selector lever.

The gear engaged is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1). When the selector lever is shifted out of the selector lever position "D" the system automatically changes into the standard program "S".

Shift operations at unacceptably high or low speed are not carried out.

In addition forced downshift occurs at under speed and a forced upshift occurs at over speed.

1st gear is engaged automatically when the vehicle is stationary. It is also possible to start off both in 1st and 2nd gear.
