General
Following activation of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) using the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) on the steering column tube module (N80), the user can select various options to edit a station list. Commands are received by the handsfree system microphone group (A67b1) and sent over a direct line to the voice control system control unit (A35/11). The voice recognition is located in the voice control system control unit.
The VCS [SBS] voice output in vehicles with code (810) Sound system is transmitted by the "audio unit" via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3). From there, the voice output is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/5)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/6)
- Left front door speaker, mirror triangle (H4/23)
- Right front door speaker, mirror triangle (H4/24)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Subwoofer speaker (H4/29)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
For vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the voice output is transmitted directly from the "audio equipment" via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left front door speaker, mirror triangle
- Right front door speaker, mirror triangle
The "Station list" function consists of the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for creating station list
- Function sequence for querying station list entries
- Function sequence for selecting station from station list
- Function sequence for deleting individual entries in the station list
- Function sequence for deleting total station list
Function sequence for creating station list
The VCS [SBS] enables the user to create a station list. Stations selected frequently can be stored here together with freely selectable names or the proper station name. 10 entries can be stored. To create or expand the personal list of stations after activating the audio equipment, the user has to say the command "Save station" after activating the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) using the VCS [SBS] switch.
After this editing command, the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) asks the user to "Please say name" for entry of the station name. If this name is entered by the user, the VCS [SBS] asks the user to say the name again as confirmation. If a different name is given when the name is entered the 2nd time (confirmation), the VCS [SBS] voice output requests the user to "Please say again". If the user then enters the first name, the VCS [SBS] requests the user to repeat the name again. The VCS [SBS] stores the station list entry (name and associated station) in the station list only when the associated name and its repetition are identical.
The VCS [SBS] voice output then states "Station stored".
Function sequence for querying station list entries
The VCS [SBS] user can use the "Read station list" command to have the entire list of stations read out. In so doing, the user can select a specific station name to tune into a new station. Selection is accomplished by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch.
Function sequence for selecting station from station list
The user can use the command "Select station" to select a station from the list of stations. Following this command, the user is requested by the VCS [SBS] to enter the station name via the voice command "Please say the name". If the user says the name specified previously while storing the station , then the voice control system VCS switches to the desired station after the user has repeated the station name.
Function sequence for deleting individual entries in the station list
After activating the VCS [SBS] using the VCS [SBS] switch, the user can use the "Delete station" command to delete an individual entry from the station list. The VCS [SBS] then requests that the name of the station to be deleted is entered. After entry of the station name by the user, the VCS [SBS] asks whether the selected name is really to be deleted. If the user answers "Yes", the specified station name is deleted from the station list, the message "Station deleted" being displayed. If the user answers "No" or if too much time elapses, the deletion process is aborted and the station name is retained. Any other word spoken by the user terminates dialog with the VCS [SBS].
Function sequence for deleting total station list
After activating the VCS [SBS] using the VCS [SBS] switch, the user can use the "Delete station list" command to delete all entries from the station list. After this command the VCS [SBS] asks whether the station list really should be deleted. If the user answers with "Yes", then he/she is asked by a voice output: "Are you sure?". If the user answers "Yes" to this question, all station list entries are deleted. If the answer is "No", the voice control system starts to read out the station list entries.
While the station list is being read aloud, the user can select a station to be deleted by activating the VCS [SBS] switch in direction of the driver. The selected station is then repeated by the VCS. The user is then asked, as a confirmation, if the selected station really is to be deleted. If the user answers "Yes", the specified station is deleted from the station list. If the user answers "No", the VCS [SBS] continues to read out the station list entries. Any other word terminates dialog with the VCS.
Following the "Radio help" command the VCS [SBS] reads out all the commands for the radio.
