GF82.61-P-3011PME Route Calculation, Function
MODEL 203.0 /2 /7 as of 24.4.04
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
- up to Model Year 8
After entry of the destination at the radio and navigation unit (A2/56), the route is calculated and updated continuously by the navigation processor. This can only be calculated within the digitalized map areas. The calculated route is the prerequisite of the destination guidance system.
Based on of the CD data read in, the destination entered and the current position of the vehicle, the navigation processor calculates the route. For the calculation, it takes into account the roads read in from the CD and their attributes, such as one-way roads, ban on turns left or right and road categories.
The operator can always specify the manner in which the route is to be calculated. The following routes are possible:
- Fastest route
- Shortest route
- Dynamic route
On selection of the "Dynamic route", a traffic data recorder integrated into the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is used to store traffic messages received via the radio; these are then automatically taken into consideration on calculation of the route. The route is then calculated with the optimum time, in a manner similar to the "Fastest route" option. Notification that the route has been recalculated taking traffic messages into consideration, is provided.
The route calculation can be further restricted by the following options:
- Avoid highway
- Avoid ferries
- Avoid toll
- Avoid tunnels
Following the calculation of the route, the navigation processor generates a list of roads and junctions to be driven along. This list is used for navigation. It may also be displayed by calling up the "Information" menu.
Route updating
When the driver deviates from the calculated route, a new route is calculated by the navigation processor. The current position and the direction of travel are taken into consideration. The message "New route" appears on the display and "NEW RTE" appears in the instrument cluster (A1).
Journeys outside of the digitized map area
If the vehicle leaves the digitized map area e.g. while traveling in a multi-level car park, routes cannot be calculated. "OFF ROAD" appears on the display. On leaving the digitized map area, "OFF MAP" is displayed. The destinations outside of the digitized map area cannot be taken into consideration during the route calculation.
Bypassing tailbacks
After a tailback message via the traffic information radio channel, a route calculation can be arranged before the route section concerned is reached which bypasses the tailback.
In order to achieve this, the "Detour" button must be pressed, and the following data must be input:
- The length of the tailback, including the distance up to the start of the tailback.
- The corresponding stretch is to be blocked within the detailed route list.
