GF82.60-P-2003PMA Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function

MODEL 203.0 /2 /7 as of 24.4.04
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio
- up to Model Year 8

All volume and tone settings are performed on the radio control panel (A2). It is necessary to distinguish between audio sources and service sources:
Audio sources are
- Radio tuner
- CD drive

Service sources include:
- Traffic announcements
- Telephone system and voice control system (VCS [SBS]) (with code (813) Voice control system (VCS [SBS]))

Volume setting
The volume setting is regulated at the combination push and rotary knob of the radio (A2) for each of the selected audio sources.
In addition, it can be set separately in all audio and service areas (telephone, traffic information radio channel).
The "TP Vol" softkey assignment enables the volume for the traffic information to be increased or decreased. The "Reset" function enables predefined sound settings (bass and treble) to be reset to their neutral position.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
Volume is adapted to the noise level in the passenger compartment by the speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and the automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation feature.
Here, the signal input at the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) and the vehicle speed signal are used as reference values.

Mute
If the user presses the function key "Mute", the audio source currently being listened to is muted and the CD drive changes to a pause status. The "muting" function status can also be triggered automatically.
If a telephone system is installed in the vehicle (with code (388) Telephone "portable CTEL", UPCI system), the radio (A2) switches to telephone mode when an incoming call is received and mutes the audio source.

Tone setting
The radio (A2) permits manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, and fader) for each audio source. The "AUDIO" function status can be called up from every other function state, except "AUTO ON".

The display on the radio (A2) shows the bass as the 1st. called up sound setting. By pressing the "AUDIO" function key repeatedly, the other setting options for treble, balance (left/right), fader (front/rear), volume increase and traffic announcements can be called up. The messages of the AUDIO function status are output in the display field. The tone control only relates to the active system function status. With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the relative ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes. The sound settings (balance, fader) can be performed by actuating the main function buttons for sound distribution in the left control panel. The signal processing required for volume and sound settings is performed by the radio (A2) or the sound amplifier (A2/13) (with code (810) Sound system).
