Fuel injection valves are located at the left on cylinder head.

Up to 11/2006 the fuel injection valves were fitted with 4-hole nozzles and from 12/2006 with 6-hole nozzles.

Function
If solenoid winding (13) is energized, the Nozzle needle (11) is raised by solenoid armature (12) about 0.1 mm against the force of coil spring (7).
The fuel escapes through outlet hole (10) and is sprayed into intake port in a finely atomized spray.

Each of the fuel injection values are directly actuated by correspondingly long mass impulses from motor electronics control unit (N3/10).
The voltage is supplied via the ME control unit from "terminal 87 M1.2".
