GF91.29-P-3009PP Non-occupied Position Of Passenger Head Restraint, Function

- with CODE (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory
- up to Model Year 8

Function prerequisites:
- Terminal 15R ON or
- Circuit 15 ON or
- Valid "Seat occupied" or "Unoccupied" signal from restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

Function
If the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the head restraint moves to the downstop. When the front passenger seat is occupied again, the head restraint moves back to its original position.

The function is performed by the passenger-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/2), which actuates the head restraint up/down motor (M28m4).
Actuation depends on the "seat occupied" and "unoccupied" signal, which is transmitted to the passenger-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/2) via the Controller Area Network Bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

If the signal is transmitted by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) with the message "not available" or "error", a status of "seat occupied" is assumed.

Abort conditions
This function is discontinued in the event of:
- Undervoltage or overvoltage,
- Hall sensor of head restraint up/down motor (M28m4) not transmitting any pulses,
- Manual seat adjustment,
- Automatic seat adjustment or
- Saving via memory

Repeat actuation of the function is not possible again until the "seat occupied" signal has been detected, followed by the "unoccupied" signal.

If the head restraint is in the lowered position and
- the front passenger seat is manually adjusted, the relevant function is performed.
- the longitudinal position of the front passenger seat is adjusted, the "head restraint presetting" function (only United States Of America and Japan) is not and performed.

If while a starting position is entered the following occurs:
- Manual seat adjustment,
- Automatic seat adjustment or
- Saving via memory
then the starting position entry is aborted.

The automatic seat adjustment and saving via memory requests are performed.
