GF82.15-P-0002PP Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function

GF82.15-P-0002PP Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS), Function
- with CODE (600) Headlamp cleaning system

Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15 On

Function
Pressing the HCS [SRA] switch (S1s7) in the light switch module (S1) switches on the HCS [SRA] headlamp cleaning system. The corresponding input of the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), which reads in the HCS [SRA] switch (S1s7), is switched here to ground. The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) connects circuit 30 to the HCS pump (M5/2). The HCS pump (M5/2) builds pressure up in the washing water line, which acts against the telescopic nozzle return spring
This causes the telescopic nozzles to move out and spray water onto the headlamps. After the on period has elapsed, the pressure in the washer fluid line drops again and the nozzles move back into their initial position as a result of the spring force.

Pressing the HCS switch (S1s7) again during an active headlamp cleaning cycle has no effect. A further cleaning cycle can only be activated after the previous one has ended.

Automatic actuation (in vehicles as of 1.6.04)
After 15 actuations of the windshield washer system, the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is automatically activated. This automatic control function is assumed by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Function
With each actuation of the window washer fluid pump (M5/1), the internal counter in the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) is incremented upwards by one until it reaches the value "15", then the HCS [SRA] pump (M5/2) is activated and the counter reset to "0".

The internal counter is always reset to "0" with circuit 15 Off.
