Function on vehicles without code (345a) rain sensor
The rear wiper operates on actuation by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "I" (rear window). The wiper is actuated for approx. 1 s. After this it is operated with a pause time of approx. 5 s. After the request for intermittent wiping is made at the combination switch (S4), the message is relayed over the steering column module (N80), over CAN-B (CAN-B) and then to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), which then discretely actuates the rear-end door wiper motor (M6/4). If the front wipers are in intermittent operation, then the rear wiper is synchronized with the front wiper system.
Function on vehicles with code (345a) rain sensor
If the combination switch (S4) is in position "I" (windshield ) and the vehicle is moving backwards, then the rear-end door wiper motor (M6/4) is actuated analog to the wiper motor for the windshield.
The rear-end door wiper system is a reverse wiping system. This means that the integrated electronics in the rear-end door wiper motor (M6/4) automatically control the edge change of the wiper blade after its has reached its reclining position (start position) or its end position.
